This random event occurs in:
- Civilian Sector
- Engi Controlled Sector
- Engi Homeworlds
- Pirate Controlled Sector
The Long-Ranged Scanners will detect ship presence. This event can occur only once per sector.
Once you arrive, your screen lights up with warnings. A nearby pirate seems to have advanced hacking tools and they have tried to shut down our engines. Your crew manages to keep them operational and you move in to attack.

- Fight the Pirate ship with your Engines limited to level 1.
- (Hacking System) Counter the remote hacking.
- Your Hacking System automatically counters the digital assault and you move in to fight the ship.

Fight the Pirate ship[]
- (After destroying enemy ship) With the pirate ship destroyed, your ship's system is restored to full functionality. You salvage what you can from the debris.
- You receive a random amount of fuel and scrap.
- (After killing enemy crew) With the pirate ship disabled, your engines come online again. You salvage what you can from their ship.
- You receive medium fuel and scrap.
Trivia[]
This event is called "PIRATE_NO_ESCAPE" in the datafiles.
- The ship ("PIRATE_NO_ESCAPE") doesn't surrender nor tries to escape.
- Level 1 Engines system is not affected by the enemy hack, hence the crew skill can be trained.
